INDONESIA OUTINGS COMING SOON!!

Bung Ghaz had whispered to fellow golf members that there would be two (2) Golf Excursions to Jakarta in April and May 2012. Many have quietly submitted their Passport Number and Expiry Date to him in order to book early and not to miss the trip..after all, it is still months away but limited slots available, I heard the April trip would be in smaller group and the May trip would be limited to four flights!

I like both trips and now I am looking the both months schedule! First Installment of RM530 for the Garuda Air Ticket was paid to Mr Johnny who is organizing the trip. The remaining ground cost of RM 1,535 will be paid in late April.

BUKIT BANANG GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB, BATU PAHAT

Located at Bandar Banang Jaya, Batu Pahat, this 18 hole golf course is in great shape especially the greens. Played there on 1 March 2012 after a heavy rain, the three of us  managed to complete 9 hole at Valley Nine. Fairways are turfed with Bermuda Greenless Park and fairways with Tifdwarf made playing experience a lasting satisfaction. 

  

Mr Quek hit his 7 iron to 8 feet to the pin. I hit my 5 wood to 25 feet, he made birdie and I made Par.

There are 3 holes that stood out on this nine, a Par 5 second hole that has a large pond to carry on your second shot and a Par 3 215 meter on 8th hole, I made bogey on both holes but scored 2 pars on this nine. The other hole is the last hole 9 that is dogleg left where the green is guarded by large green-side bunkers. From the blue Tee the tee-shot has to carry 200 meter to see the green, I played from the White Tee and landed my second shot in the bunker.

My golfing buddies were Mokhtar (Hcp 24) and Kuek (Hcp 12). Tomorrow I am off to Johor Bahru for the last leg of my meetings with Peninsular Malaysia timber-based industry. We will be staying at Zon Regency Hotel at the Duty Free Complex.

Mr Quek flew the green with 3 wood, My tee shot with a driver landed just before the bunker and we all made bogey.

9 HOLE GOLF COURSE IN MUAR

If you happen to pass by or stay in Muar, Johore, like I did last week on 29 February 2012, there is a 9 hole walking course located at Tanjung Emas, about 2 km from Muar Traders hotel. This course is managed by the local town council and imposed just a nominal green fee. Me and my colleague Mokhtar paid RM58.20 for the 2 of us inclusive of trolley rental. That's about RM29 to play 9 hole!

The course is flat, 4 holes near the clubhouse and 5 holes near the sea....yes, the Straits of Malaca and in between is the public road and joggers lane...be careful then because there is no fence!

Hole 1 Par 3 159 meter with pond in between tee box and green, hit a 7 wood and made Par

Hole 2 Par 4 302 meter with pond on right side and another pond to carry on 2nd shot, made Bogey

Hole 3 Par 4 334 meter sea on the right side, Made Bogey

Hole 4 Par 4 352 meter straight forward no hazards but 3 putted made Double Bogey

Hole 5 Par 3 120 meter with pond and large bunker in between, my 9 iron did not carry the bunker, Bogey

Hole 6 Par 4 350 meter with public road on the left, prone to OB but second shot apron, made Par

Hole 7 Par 5 470 meter, did not finish already dark and skipped to Hole 9

Hole 8 Par 4 275 meter, did not play

Hole 9 Par 4 356 meter, 3rd shot from 60 meters dropped 5 feet from pin, made Par

Met some friendly people at the club and talked for about 10 minutes..they noticed that I am not regular there.

That night we had dinner at the river front, the usual Muar must have..Mee Rebus, Mertabak and Otak-otak!

Tomorrow..plan for Bukit Banang, Batu Pahat !

WET AND SOGGY PERANGSANG

Way to go..golf swing sequence of Ah Lok!!

Chinese New Year holidays was spent partly playing golf with Chinese friend at PTGC, Rawang.

I was a member of PTGC for a good 8 years before deciding to part with this beautiful but wet golf course near Bukit Tukun, Rawang. When Mr. Tan called and ask me to organize a flight on Tuesday, I readily accepted and called 2 more officemates to join us. Like I said, PTGC was wet and soggy this week, unable to enjoy golf but we played allright, a few pars here and there and I played 49 and 45, still below 100. The three other flightmates were unable to break 100.

The golf swing sequence of us here is not to be followed..yet! There are many flaws especially on the downswing and follow through, weight transfer etc. Then again, we are just casual golfers..too lazy to practice and most of our lessons came from watching golf videos at Youtube!

Looking at my own golf swing, I notice that the body is no longer as flexible as it used to be, can hardly complete the back swing and the body turn, no wonder tha ball didn't go very far nowadays! Hmm..have to do something about this to do better at Bukit Beruntung this Saturday!!!

KUNDANG LAKES CNY SPECIAL

The main organizer of CIMB Chicken Tour (Golf) has to excuse the eight of us for not partcipating in the regular event at Kundang Lakes Golf Club. Simply because Mr Mansor from University Malaya has also booked 2 flights on the same morning, thus prompted the splitting of events. I was placed 3rd from the previous event (38 points system 36) but have to pass this time around. So we have another group of Kheiruddin, Hj Wan Munir, Hj Nor Zainal, Sharol, Sabri, Mansor, Nik Shehar and Bangdolah competing for free `coconut drinks' and `kerepok lekur' at Tasik Biru after the game. Free means there will be some losers paying for them. See these three guys playing from the drop zone at the Par 3 11 hole..now you know who was 3 up at that hole!



Atek and Sharol were playing after our group and wanted me to shoot the golf swing sequence. I will upload them in Youtube when I can recover the forgotten password!

KUNDANG LAKES - NON GOLFING

You can enjoy a trip to Kundang Lakes or Tasik Biru without your golf bags because there is also a huge lake called the Blue Lagoon or Tasik Biru where a family outing is favourable. We can see a lot of outdoor loving family and couples crowding this place on the weekends.

Jet ski is the favourite pastime and activities here with old men, young men and girls and boys are showing their skills riding the jet ski. Others were just satisfied with the cool dip in the clear water which at certain spots are shallow enough for safe swimming.






Golf course is just 1,500 meters away and also crowded during weekends.
